Perfect for anyone interested in education and training! A Teacher Assistant is someone who provides instructional or other direct services related to a school’s curriculum to students under the supervision and direction of the classroom teacher or other certified professional staff. Most teacher assistants provide one or more of the following kids of help: One-on-one instruction, assistance with classroom management, instructional assistance in a classroom, computer lab, or library setting.
This 30-hour course is a Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) approved paraprofessional pre-employment program designed to give you the knowledge and skills you need to succeed as a teacher assistant.
The course includes:
Students must complete the course and pass the accompanying ParaPro test. Students will then be certified to work in any school district throughout the state of Rhode Island.
By the first day of class you must provide a notarized BCI Form (get form here) with a check for $5.00 made out to RI Attorney General – BCI.
Note: To work in the RI school system you must pass the computerized ParaPro test. It must be scheduled and paid for separately. The testing fee is currently set at $65. The Education Exchange is a certified testing center for ParaPro.
