English as a Second Language
  • About half of Rhode Island adult learners are in ESL programs.
  • Roughly 34,921 working age adults in Rhode Island have limited English skills, or none at all.
At The Education Exchange, we understand the challenges that face our students whose native language is not English. Our classes range from beginner to advanced to meet the needs of all of our ESL students, making it easier for them to communicate effectively in the workplace and in their community. Our goal with our ESL classes is to empower students with more confidence and understanding of the English language by developing English language skills including:
  • Grammar
  • Vocabulary
  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Speaking
  • Listening
The curriculum of this course also incorporates cultural and civics study to encourage participation in the community and prepare for a US citizenship Exam, if that is desired.
